Making Logo Quilts for the City of Aiken

Caroline Pine Quilters made three quilts for the City of Aiken.  The one shown here hangs in the Aiken Municipal Building on Park Ave.  The second went to out sister city in Orrieto, Italy.  The third went to our sister city in Shoalhaven, Australia.

The logo represents the Savannah River Site, the boy and girl standing under an umbrella at the fountain at the intersection of Park Avenue and Lauren’s Street, golf, and horses.

Partners in Friendship was founded in 1996 out of a desire to encourage understanding and cooperation (on a variety of cultural, educational and commercial fronts) between the City of Aiken and the Italian city of Orvieto. Early efforts along those lines were so successful that they resulted in the creation of an official partner city relationship endorsed by both mayors. Since then PIF has developed into a full-fledged non-profit organization with a large and growing membership. In 1999 PIF extended its reach to Pacific shores by acquiring a second partner, the Australian district called The Shoalhaven.

Mission Statement
The mission of Partners in Friendship is to promote international understanding and cultural appreciation while enriching the lives of Aiken citizens. Specific areas of exchange include education, commerce, culture and arts, tourism, and technology.
